It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business and need a detached office. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more and need a garage or barn to make it work. Whatever it is, let me help to make that idea a reality.
Bio
My name is Aaron and I’ve been a student of architecture since 1995, when I won 2nd place in a state competition of residential home design for Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, now known as SkillsUSA.
I gained my education in Phoenix, AZ where I graduated with honors recognition and was a part time employee as a teacher’s lab aide, assisting in helping other students grasp the material.
I gave drafting a break for awhile and worked in a lumber mill in Baker City, OR for a few years pulling lumber chain, then moved into their stud grader position. I then got a job as a manager in training at 84 Lumber in Tennessee. That didn’t seem to captivate me, so I tried something out of the norm, a cruise ship! I worked as a deckhand on an American flag cruise ship that sailed up and down the East coast for one full year stint.
Fast forward to 2006 when I finally moved back to my home town and was a kitchen cabinet designer for Lowes and Home Depot, which inadvertently got me a job as an Engineered Wood Products designer for supply chains in the Pacific Northwest.
In 2007, I wanted to try my luck with a side job, and launched A+ Drafting & Design, LLC. My first home design was in Hawaii, and was just put back on the sales market for $2.7M. I’ve done multiple home designs in Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, and am now starting to design in Alaska.
I’m now into my 18th year as an Engineered Wood Products (EWP) designer, currently specializing in commercial I-joist layouts, and have done that for the past 6 years.
I’ve been fortunate enough to find a beautiful wife, seven beautiful fur babies, and a beautiful 10-acre forest lot that I built a small home on.
I enjoy spending time with my wife, whether it’s camping, kayaking, gardening or gaming. I also have a music room full of instruments and noise makers, but my current most favorite is the mandolin.
